Community
Whilst the members of the Southern Haemophilia Network have always had a role in the haemophilia and bleeding disorders community, the creation of this network will ensure that they can offer comprehensive care within local areas. This means that no matter where you live within the network, you will receive the same quality of care.
The network facilitates a better working relationship between comprehensive care centres, district general hospitals, GPs, and primary care teams, allowing them to become more efficient, without compromising care. Patient treatment and care will become standardised across the region, so that via the network, services and staff can be deployed in response to demand ensuring that high quality healthcare services for patients with bleeding disorders is not a lottery, it is an expectation.
An additional benefit to the haemophilia and bleeding disorders community is the ability to access other healthcare services. For example if you need heart surgery, the healthcare professionals working within the network will work together to ensure you are in the best place for your needs.
The Southern Haemophilia Network will also continue to promote the education of the local community in bleeding disorders. By delivering consistent, coordinated information through a platform such as the Southern Haemophilia Network, the issues concerning patients and healthcare professionals will be given a unified voice.
Furthermore, the network will enable haemophilia care and education to have a physical presence outside of the comprehensive care centres, establishing closer relations with patients and interest groups. The engagement of patients with the Southern Haemophilia Network and haemophilia community is key, and so through a growing partnership services can improve, with patients providing essential input. If you are interested in getting involved please contact the network here.
